Children's Floor Puzzles - Great For Kids Hand-Eye Coordination

Hand-eye coordination begins during infancy through providing infants with objects and colorful toys that will encourage them to reach out and grasp them. By the age of 4-5 months infants can bring their hands into their field of vision, and during toddlerhood further progress in hand-eye coordination comes with the ability to see and grasp objects accurately. They develop the "pincer grasp" during this time.

By three to four years of age children learn to handle eating utensils and button small buttons. By five years of age the child's hand-eye coordination is beginning to advance as he approaches, grasps and releases objects with precision and accuracy.

By six years of age the child's visual orientation changes as they shift their gaze more frequently and follow the progress of objects rather than staring at the object. By the time they reach school age through middle childhood they make great advances in speed, timing and coordination of hand-eye coordination.

Between the ages of three and six it is important to provide as many opportunities for children to develop their hand-eye coordination. But, what to do when it rains, snows or gets dark too early? Because visual feedback is vital for fast and accurate hand movements it is important to allow children to continue to develop their hand-eye coordination.

One great solution is a giant floor puzzle. These puzzles are very colorful, made of large enough pieces to not harm the child if they put them in their mouth, and provide an opportunity to develop hand-eye coordination while learning shapes and patterns.

Over the years I have cared for many children, and I have observed their behavior with floor puzzles. I take the diagram of the completed puzzle and seal it in plastic so they can refer to it without destroying it. Children will spend a lot of time learning the puzzle, and once they do they always want an adult to watch them and spend time with them putting the puzzle together. When they are older they will only put it together 2 or 3 times before losing interest, but they always go back to it when bored indoors.

Safe and educational, giant floor puzzles make a great indoor activity for when the weather keeps them indoors.

The Best Toys for Children This Christmas

Shopping for our children can be time consuming especially on Christmas season. You may not be able to discern at first, which are the ones that they need and the ones that they can do without. In buying presents for them, think of the benefits a toy can bring. Does it promote stimulation to the mind or is it something that may not call attention after the novelty wears off? It is important that your kids will make use of the toys not just for a short time but also for continuous enjoyment and possible learning. There are many selections where we can choose for our children's toys.

Building blocks are good because they are teaching our child's attitude and patience in trying to create something that they want. It may take them sometime to build one but it is rewarding once they have made the first project on their own. It is also engaging as they can make different figures, one after another. There are many variations they can make out from the building blocks.

Art materials promote creativity to the mind. They can draw, paint, and extend their imagination on things that interests and inspires them. Get your children something that can enhance their talent. Not only they will be happy to receive, but it will also be a continuing hobby for them. It will become most especial if they can make an interesting decoration for Christmas using the art materials that you give them. Encourage them more in making a very good one as they may receive Santa phone calls that are especially for kids who have been good at school and in making nice Christmas decoration in preparation for his coming.

Board games are also ideal gifts for children. They encourage thinking, at the same time socialization with other kids, as they usually require participation of others. Puzzle of any kind is an interesting game for your child as well. It encourages thinking on how to solve a problem. It fuels their mind into analyzing more and more as they progress to through stages of the puzzles.

Bicycle and other toys that promote physical activity is also a good combination to the above mentioned toys. In giving gifts, we should think of both mental and physical aspect of our child's development. It is a balance that should be maintained at all times. Having toys that encourage physical activity keeps the body alive and healthy. Toys that encourage sharing with others is an ideal way of building up his thought on sharing and friendship as well.

One thing you must not forget in buying gifts is the safety for children. Make sure you get stuff that is appropriate for their age and gender. You should not get anything that may pose hazard; no matter how little is the chance. It is always best to consult the packaging or the store assistant about suitability of certain toys to your kids.

Christmas is an opportunity for children to receive gifts more than they can imagine. They are always looking for something to receive, no matter how small it is. It just makes them happy knowing that people care and loves them. But nothing can excite them more than hearing the voice of Santa on Christmas Eve. Santa Calls make up the perfect Christmas experience for your children. Along with a toy, is voice of Santa that can make the memory last forever, from their younger age through the years.

What are currently the best toys for kids this Christmas?

If you want all the parents are present "right" for the children I want for Christmas can be overwhelming! If it's education or fun, or perhaps a combination of both?

As a mother of a fussy baby, I will try to guide the best toys this Christmas you choose.

Bath toys

Everyone keeps talking about in bath time is great, if only so you have more time to wash behind your ears. Fortunately, toysfor the bathroom need not be expensive. Most popular games for young children have plastic balls floating rubber ducks. If you look a bit 'creative desire to work more letters of the great rubber, because if they get wet you can stick on the tiles of the bathroom wall and make the words

Books

Every child, regardless of their age should have a growing library of books. At this age they begin to go beyond mere illustration of books and appreciate the stories more. Try andfind stories with a nice message and beautiful illustrations. Some of my favorites are: "Where is the green sheep?" by Mem Fox and "Guess how much I Love You" by Sam McBratney. Lift the flap books are also popular with this age group

Building Blocks

Whether you're brand or simple Lego blocks, wood, building more and stimulates the imagination for children and should be encouraged.

Electronic Toys

Apart from the needy andendless supply of batteries, electronic toys, some expensive, so it's best to try and choose wisely. The best way to do this is to store to take your child with a toy and you can see the toys that seem to be the most play. Usually a one or two people, so that would be the obvious choice. Other ways to select electronic toys, you should ask friends who have children like you and go on their own.

Video / DVD

Try to havea combination of two types of DVD for your child. Before choosing an educational program, such as "Brainy Baby" or "Baby Einstein" and the second, follow with a funny video only as "The Wiggles" or "Sesame Street". To get your child to love "their" programs.

Plush Toys

All children need a doll or stuffed animals to cuddle, so do not forget the stuffed animals this year. Choose a toy that is easy to carry and convenient (and cute), asThis is the time to begin a special bond with toys.

Puzzle / Games

Stimulating their problem solving skills from toys that have "need" to resolve. Toys how to fit the hole right or pairs are always popular with this age group.

How do I quit smoking 60 cigarettes a day!

I thought that smoking cigarettes had sixty days to wake up just above the limit of human endurance until I started to "enjoy" in one night!

I started smoking when I was fourteen and was at the age of sixteen I was a "committed" smokers. Within three years I managed my daily intake of cigarettes, two packs a day ratchet, and when I was 21, I was up to three packs a day.

Needless to say, over the years, I was able to "close" a number of times. Ipeople joke at the end, just as, because I was successful the company, it was easy. In fact, it was not left, it was only a temporary suspension, which lasted no more than a few days. I was a smoker in good faith. In fact, I could not imagine life worth living without cigarettes. After all, if I stop, how could I ever enjoy talking on the phone without the aid and comfort to smoke one? How could I enjoy a beer without a cigarette to accompany? Enjoy a delicious meal and relax intelevision would be "empty" without the final touch, a cigarette. This smoky flavors permeate every area of my life, all day and late into the night. I could not live without them.

But, as every expert knows that smoking is a life sentence to slavery. Like all smokers, I have always said that I stopped before it was too late, what it meant.

As a smoker I hated that part of my life. I was so angry and disgusted that I controlled myDependence as a dress totally destructive. Then one day I finally decided to stop completely, but I decided that I definitely do not try to put an end to this day. Instead, I looked at the psychological chains that I had tied me. Instead of trying to turn back or stop completely, I actually have had to increase my daily dose.

Now remember, this was many years ago, when smokers are not the pariahs now seem. Back then you couldSmoke in the air, public transport, and at the end of smoking in church, you can smoke anywhere you liked and no one gave a second thought. So when I say that would increase my daily dose, I started literally light a cigarette from the previous year. There have been many times in the sense that I just had a cigarette and not smoke a different feel now? Almost always. But I tried to smoke the same, because if the cigarettes are so pleasant, why should II may be deprived of all the joy I was able to collect?

With every cigarette I smoked, I really thought about how I hated. I once again ask myself what I was really enjoying this torture. If I go into a watch store at 10:30 at night because I had only left a cigarette, I made sure to ask me, and really think about how much sense it was true.

I started to focus on things like the smell of my clothes, my car, my breath, the nicotine-yellowSpot, costs, dirty ashtrays, and worst of all started I have to admit that this was anything but a very humiliating slavery.

While the thinking in this way have been "unconscious" reprogram my belief that smoking "nice" and was "unstoppable." This self-inflicted torture smoked continuously for a couple of weeks, and as you can imagine, it was beginning to seriously impact my health immediately. I was always tired and uncomfortable. Iknew that I wanted to quit, I knew I had to stop, but I did not know how or when.

Then came the day. I remember clearly as if it were yesterday. I was 27 years. I woke up one morning and, literally, like someone was standing on my chest felt. It 'was a clear and distinctive. The notice is not too thin has been accompanied by profound knowledge. It 'was one of those defining moments in life. Or I quit or I would never see forty.

Knowledgewas so complete that when I get out of bed and looked at my cigarette, I have quietly thrown in the trash, got dressed and went to work. I have not smoked a cigarette in 23 years.

There were times a few weeks if I wanted a cigarette? Yes, but the urge to smoke was not nearly as big as my desire to have none. I finally got to see exactly what I give up - nothing!

I had, as I have changed. I did not start,! Abandonment I wanted to do to enjoy my freedom, my independence, my self-esteem, my confidence, my money, my time. "Resign?" If I surrender, I was the subject of a crippling addiction. I was the task of going to a store late at night. I have been the subject of endless smell, cost, stress, anxiety, colds, coughs, hacking and embarrassment.

I did not realize at the time, but what I was doing in recent weeks, when I am forced to smokemore than I wanted to think consciously about what I did, I did some very powerful neuron tracks and new ways of thinking.

There were times in the weeks and months that I was longing for a cigarette? From time to time. In fact, I could years later, "enjoy" on the phone and thought of a "nice cigarette" I'd like to mind pop, but the idea was made in haste and little substance. My freedom means more to me than anything else.

At thisDay I will say that my biggest success was to get rid of this horrible, filthy. For a long time I thought I had broken my smoking slavery by force of will. Today I know that this was not the case at all. What I did was to change my thought process systematically. I had slowly but surely started my habit and addiction, what could be seen. When I thought that cigarettes were my friends, I was completely under their control. If I changed my mind to see, they were myworst enemy, I had to check. It was then, only then can I stop smoking ... permanently!

Well, to emphasize my point, although I think that I had not really over cold turkey. Who has made at some point had their last cigarette. We think that at this point was to end, cold turkey. Technically this is true, but in reality there was a thought process that preceded the action. In my case it was a special moment when I said "This is it,Enough! "But to reach this place where I am leaving behind, I had a couple of weeks, the change in my deepest convictions to be spent in smoke.

If people's habits and addictions profound change "overnight", apparently for the use of willpower, if you look you will probably find that there were far more complicated than it appears on the surface they seem. There are always exceptions, but most likely are too rarely bother with. In fact, if you canmuch change through the use of will power, then the rights that should be able to turn into a perfect walk, talk, and gives the man during the night. The sad reality is that it changes the current process has the willpower to stay out of sad.

Current attempts diets are more votes to eliminate the debt penalty cold turkey, then and there attempts to stop smoking or drinking or gambling, or the adoption of anew personality to enter into a social community.

There are always some famous success stories that fuel the belief that change is possible during the night and the municipality. These stories published often lead us to believe that if we do not take instantaneous change, then we have a lack of personal power or will to power. Nothing could be further from the truth!

Lasting change, no matter if it's a good habit to acquire or dispose of unwanted habit of alwaysbegins with a change in thinking - a new way of thinking.

Richard is the author of 29 days ... For a life without cigarettes!

4 Great Ideas For Making Christmas Spectacular For Your Kids

This Christmas many parents are wondering what toys and activities to do with their kids this Christmas. If you have more than one child you have already set some family traditions to at least govern the activities and you are becoming an old hat at choosing presents. If you are just starting out and this is your kid's first Christmas that he is aware of, you are probably looking for some advice. Another factor is the economy you might be a parent who has to find more creative solutions for providing a great Christmas experience for your children with a smaller budget. Here are some suggestions to help you achieve a holiday that your whole family can enjoy.

It is important to have a plan and try to avoid making some of the shopping mistakes you might have made last year.. This could be anything from procrastination to not researching the latest toy to come out. Give yourself a blueprint for how you want Christmas to play out. It may not go 100% to plan but it will help you have a general set of guiding principles that will make it much simpler and even cheaper to achieve.

When it comes to picking out toys for your kids take into account what is popular that year for boys and girls. For boys standard gifts will revolve around cars or toys based off of popular movies. For example toys tied to the X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie will most likely be on your son's wish list. For girls things have pretty much remained the same with toys that are dolls, or kitchen play sets. This year Disney franchises such as the Hannah Montana show and Sunny with a Chance have become really popular so any toys or merchandise from these shows will be sure to wind up on the list especially if your daughter is slightly older.

A great affordable idea is to have stocking stuffers. These are a variation on the presents under a tree. Have your kids decorate stockings and hang them somewhere near the Tree or over the fireplace if you have one. Then you can fill them with candy and small toys and other fun items such as puzzles. They are great for younger children because it gives a lot of different items to play with. They also can be use to give your kids proof that Santa stopped by for good little boys and girls.

For a parent wanting to do something extra special to reaffirm a child's belief in Santa Claus you can also make use of special services from online holiday companies. One of them is the letter from Santa. The idea is affordable and deceptively simple but the impact for your children will be amazing. The concept is that you order a letter with particulars about your child and how they have been good all year. Then on Christmas day a letter from Santa will arrive at your home addressed to your child and with a special North Pole postmark. You child will be thrilled and feel reassured that Santa is out there. You can also have the letter customized for special occasions or as a way to cheer up a child going through a tough time. The service is just one of many ways that you can make the Holidays special and unforgettable for your children.

Cheap Toys

All parents love to buy toys for their kids. Children should play with varieties of toys like educational and learning, creative, novelty toys and electronic toys to improve their dexterity, skill, imagination and their overall development. Today, the toys are so expensive that parents who are on low budget cannot really afford them.

However, there are few toys that are simple and cheap and yet they give all the benefits of expensive toys. These include play-doh, crayons, puzzles, board games, craft kits, books and puppets. These can also be used as gifts for holidays, birthdays and other special occasions. They do not cost a fortune, but they guarantee hours of fun for kids.

Kids are least bothered about the price of the toy. Even small and cheap toys amuse them. With a little patience and research, parents can buy cheap toys that will make their kids happy. So, why to waste money on expensive toys?

An easy and inexpensive way to keep the child busy is by making toys at home. Creative toys can be made from everyday stuff that is readily available at home. With little imagination, common household items can be turned into beautiful toys. There are a lot of internet resources which give ideas on homemade toys.

Kids never get bored of toys. However, they do not like to play with the same toys for a long time. Garage sale, flea market and thrift shop like Goodwill are the best place to look for gently used toys which are very cheap.

Sometimes, it is better to search for cheap toys online. In this computer age, online shopping is very convenient for everyone. Craigslist is an online community, where people sell old and new toys at a discounted price. It is very easy to search for cheap toys in this site. EBay is one of the web sites where reasonably priced toys can be found. EBay has several different cheap toys and it is easy to get them all from one place for a lower price.

Sales and discounts are another way to reduce the expenses on toys. These can be found in the local paper, store circular and online toy stores. These money saving coupons are the best bargains in all kinds of shopping. Some toy shops like Toys r us give reward cards. When these cards are used for shopping at Toys r us, points get accumulated, which can be used to buy new toys. Toys r us also gives a $3 gift card for the kid's birthday each year, if signed up for birthday club.

Whether parents buy cheap toys or expensive toys, all that matters is how much quality time he/she can spend with the kids and that is what all the kids look for.

The Intricacies of China Unseating Germany As the World's Biggest Exporter! (Part 2)

In the first segment of this article, the author deliberated on the episode surrounding the call for revaluation of the currency of China to forestall the growing trade imbalance between China and the rest of the world. In that segment, the author attributed the demand for its export as not only due to its low valued currency but also to other factors such as government subsidies for firms and investors, expansion in its trade horizon internationally and piracy problems. It was deduced that piracy was taking market share from the western world and also reducing the required imports for China. In this segment of the article, the author would like first to consider some pertinent issues surrounding the trade imbalance between China and the rest of the world especially the western world. Second, whether the growing trade imbalance poses a threat in terms of monopoly. Third, whether the world has options to deal with the situation.

From the perspective of exports and imports composition, the following are some trade statistics estimates for China;

Exports - $ 1.435 trillion (2008 estimates)
Main Export partners (2008 estimates) - U.S 18.6%, Hong Kong 12.7%, Japan 8.2%, South Korea 5.1% and Germany 4.2%

Imports - $1, 074 trillion (2008 estimates)
Main Import partners (2008 estimates) - Japan 12.2%, South Korea 10%, U.S 6.6%, Hong Kong 4.9% and Germany 4.5%

According to the Center for Trade Intelligence report in 2007, China generally exports low tech goods which include but not limited to computers, printers (storage units generally), cell phones, video recorders, television, electronic integrated circuits, puzzles, toys, telephones, handbags, wallets, non-knit women and girls suits, leather footwear among others. Its topmost exports are computers, printers, storage units, office machine parts, cell phones, video recorders and radio transceivers. The topmost imports includes but not limited to electronic integrated circuits, computer and office machine parts, television radio and accessory parts and crude oil. Also, based on the report, China had much trade surplus with countries like Hong Kong, United States, Netherlands, United Kingdom and Spain in descending order of surplus magnitude whilst it had trade deficits with countries like Angola, Saudi Arabia, Philippines, Japan and South Korea in ascending of deficit magnitude. These statistics do suggest that China tends to have surpluses with the western world and on the hand deficits with developing world. Perhaps, the net is the surplus since the surplus with the western world is huge compared to the deficit with the developing and under-developed world. Ultimately, it is right to say that the trade imbalance with the world is the result of high balance of trade surplus with most countries including United States and United Kingdom. From the structure of its exports, it presupposes that China would need much technological innovation to keep up with its exports. Hence, the country cannot do without high tech machinery and other industrial inputs from the western world.

In fact, resilience and low-tech manufacturing alone cannot support its exports. An economic analysis suggest that in the long term the trade imbalance should not pose a threat only if the country's surplus in totality is expected to dwindle which is currently becoming evident. This is because recent reports have it that China's total trade surplus has shrunk to $196.07 billion down 34.2%. As an analyst the decrease is not shocking considering the global slump in demand. Also, it can be inferred that if the global slump continues and domestic demand in China continues to increase, then imports by China would also increase. Increased import is possible because of the country's large population. Next, the increased imports would factor into the exports bringing down the surplus. In the longer term this would reduce drastically the surplus and pave the way for fair competition between China and the world. It must be emphasized that the dwindling in surplus should come predominantly from an expected increase in its imports as against its exports. Nevertheless, the resilience of the Chinese manufacturer to keep exporting may prove this analysis wrong. Eventually, these developments do not suggest a monopoly of the market by China and so there is no need for paranoid expectations.

Now, there is another salient reason why China is enjoying export superiority and that has got to with price elasticity of products in the current global recession. In the current slump of global demand, two things are imminent: the market has become competitive and goods are likely to be price elastic which makes it difficult to make profit. Under such prevailing conditions, any attempt to raise price could lead to a loss. Contrarily, lowering price can lead to increased sales and possibly profit. Apparently, the ability of China to present low priced products promotes its sales, exports ensuring more revenue and profitability. Again, China seems to be successful in this era because of its ability to take advantage of the price elasticity of goods in the current global slump in demand to make more sales and consequently profit. It also suggest the country's industrial and manufacturing sector is exhibiting economies of scale in the production of its goods and this is also a plus for its exports.

The whole story of the trade imbalance does not depend solely on the aforementioned factors but it is indirectly enhanced by the country's growing capital investment predominantly its direct foreign investments and portfolio investments. These two components of capital investment are serving as a backbone for its increasing export as they are consumer confidence boosters for the Chinese economy. The increased direct foreign investments and portfolio investments by China in other economies coupled with the huge accumulation of foreign exchange rate reserves is creating consumer confidence internationally in China's capability and its products even though there are cases of a down side to the quality of its products and also its investments. Additionally, the country's huge foreign reserves can be used to intervene in the foreign exchange market to influence its currency the yuan. Such action plan China may not do unless under severe pressure to strengthen or weaken its currency. Until then market forces will determine the yuan rate as it is allowed to float. Interestingly, for those economies with strong currencies as against China, opportunity is however available as well through the attraction of Direct Foreign investment and portfolio investments. On the downside products from such countries are expensive and unattractive but on the upside if their economy offers favorable low tax rates on earnings, have high interest rate and a stable exchange rate, they qualify as feasible candidates for Direct Foreign investment and Portfolio investment.

Now, I would not like to end this article without talking about the impact of inflation on China's goods pricing in the midst of the country's stunning GDP growth. China's inflation rate is comparatively high. Consumer Price Index (CPI) measures inflation and according reports, this value climbed 1.9% in December 2009 year-on-year. However, the low-value of its currency coupled with government subsidies overrides the potency of inflation. On the other hand, this is not sustainable as inflation can be a problem considering the increasing domestic demand in China. The increasing demand due to the large population coupled with a droop in supply of goods (imports) could trigger an increased inflation (demand-pulled). Additionally, increased demand for raw materials by its industrial and manufacturing sectors as against a fall in global supply of raw materials can augment inflation (cost-pushed) in China and globally. This suggests that it is not the CPI statistic alone that will be affected by these developments but also the Producer Price Index (PPI) statistic which should be a bother to producers in China. These developments may also prompt increased interest rate by the Chinese government to curb inflation.

Finally, the world may not have enough feasible options to deal with the trade imbalance situation except of course to pressure China to revalue its currency. However, with regards to the subsidies from the Chinese government, it is an internal affair which cannot be influenced from an external source. The rest of the world may have to agree with China to promote a global free and fair market. Another option is for the world to do nothing and allow the global slump and market forces to deal with the situation in the longer term. The imposition of tariffs and quotas may have only a minimal effect and should not be resorted to.

Conclusion

The recent economic news about China unseating Germany as the world's largest exporter has undoubtedly enlightened the world about the emergence of China as the new economic world super power and possibly a locomotive engine for the world economy. Behind these developments is the assertion that the feat has been enhanced by the low value of the Chinese currency the Yuan making its exports attractive and more competitive. Consequently, it is expected that in the next few months or years, China will be compelled under growing pressure to reevaluate its currency to make its products less competitive so as to obviate the growing trade imbalance between China and the rest of the world. However, it is not only the low valued currency that is responsible for low priced exports but also other factors namely government subsidies and financial assistance, China's trade horizon, piracy problems and price elasticity of goods in the global recession. Unfortunately, addressing these problems may prove a herculean task as there are not many options available for the world.

Older girls, aged 12+ years will love interactive video games like Wii Fit, a new cell phone or a new mp3 player. If she likes to read, the most popular gift this year is the new wireless reading device with over 190 000 electronic books available. I'm sure have already heard of it.
